LAFD Welcomes New Media Relations Staff

Captain Jaime Moore has completed his tour-of-duty as Public Information Officer (PIO). He excelled as a PIO and a leader in our agency and he promoted through the ranks to Battalion Chief. He is now a Commander in Battalion 11.

We are pleased to announce that Captain Daniel Curry is now serving as LAFD's primary PIO. Captain Curry will work closely with Firefighter David Ortiz, who is on assignment as a PIO, as well.

LAFD Honors Their Fallen

Today, we honored our fallen. On March 23, 1998, a LAFD helicopter was transporting a 12-year-old girl to the hospital when Fire 3 crash landed killing her, as well as Firefighter/Paramedic Michael A. Butler, Apparatus Operator Michael D. McComb and Firefighter/Paramedic Eric B. Reiner.

Emergency Public Information for 2015 ASICS LA Marathon

Los Angeles - The 2015 ASICS LA Marathon will host an estimated 26,000 participants, and we expect it to be a hot one. The marathon starts at Dodger Stadium and ends in Santa Monica. The route will wind through the cities of Los Angeles, West Hollywood, Beverly Hills and Santa Monica.

LAFD Rescues Man from Roof of Burning Koreatown Home

KOREATOWN - An uninjured man was rescued from the roof of a house, as fire ripped through the second floor and attic. Aggressive actions by LAFD firefighters limit the damage to the two story, 104 year old home, which housed a first floor business below the residential living space.
