Firefighters Extinguish Tujunga House Fire, Officers Investigate Death

LAFD Firefighters responded to a two-story home on fire, where one man was discovered dead, leading officers to open an investigation.

 

 

The Los Angeles City Fire Department (LAFD) responded to the 10200 block of North Silverton Avenue at 11:53 AM on February 26, 2024. Firefighters arrived to a two-story descending hillside home (upper floor is street level), with smoke showing from the windows. Firefighters made access to the home and advanced hose lines inside, searching for the source of the smoke. Crews found the fire burning on the lower floor (sub-1) and extending up to the floor above. The first 34-arriving firefighters accessed, confined, and extinguished the flames in 23 minutes.

One patient sustained smoke inhalation, whom Firefighter-Paramedics treated and transported. Tragically, firefighters located one man at the property who was deceased. The fatality on scene initiated responses from LAFD Arson Investigators, LAPD Officers/Investigators, and the Medical Examiner. The scene remains under active investigation to attempt to determine the circumstances.
